A Foundation, with assistance from Denham Wolf, is searching for nonprofit partners to acquire a 58,000 square foot building at 287 East 10th Street. The Foundation is turning to the local nonprofit community for a buyer, or buyers, that will continue to serve the East Village neighborhood for years to come. The property will be made available at half its market value to provide the nonprofit community with a significant subsidy towards its redevelopment.

The Foundation understands that often the most significant challenges nonprofits face when looking to acquire real estate are having adequate time to evaluate the opportunity, develop board consensus, and prepare an offer, in addition to putting together the financial resources quickly enough to act. The Foundation purchased this building with the intent to provide both time and financial resources to the nonprofit community to plan for the thoughtful redevelopment of a vital community asset. Ideally, the building’s new user(s) will: repurpose the property for community-facing programs; establish a stable, long-term financial plan for the project; and provide opportunities for public use of portions of the building.

The building offers several double-height spaces, including a gym, auditorium, and pool, and has been very well maintained by its former owner, The Boys’ Club of New York. It is located directly across from Tompkins Square Park on a prominent corner with excellent opportunity to engage the public.
