Nonprofits in New York City are often challenged with making decisions about their leases in an expensive real estate market. If you’re looking for a new location, should you consider leasing or subleasing? On the flip side, as part of our “new normal,” many organizations have a hybrid workforce. You may be faced with under-utilized space while your employees spend more time working from home. Does subleasing space make sense? Can desk licensing work for your organization? In this presentation, you’ll get tips on how to assess your situation from a business and legal perspective. Managing Director Christopher Turner from Denham Wolf will discuss the pros and cons of a direct lease vs. a sublease. Legal Director Hedy O'Hara and Senior Staff Attorney Lori Moses will cover what to consider when you’re faced with excess space.
Learning Objectives: Attendees will learn what they need to take into consideration when contemplating leasing vs. subleasing space in New York’s real estate market. If you’re contemplating your own excess space, you’ll learn what to consider before subleasing or licensing your space.
For Executive Directors, CFOs, Managers, and other senior staff of nonprofits.
