On Wednesday, April 24, Osborne Association announced the opening of its Fulton Community Reentry Center. We are pleased to share some photos from the day, and a look inside this transformed former prison.

Serving as Osborne’s Owner Representative, Denham Wolf’s Project Management Services team supported the organization as it undertook a major renovation of a 7-floor former prison in the Bronx. Starting in 2015, Osborne and Denham Wolf have worked tirelessly to transform the building into a reentry center for older adult men returning home from incarceration. This reentry program, which provides temporary housing and comprehensive support services, is designed to help individuals successfully reintegrate into their communities. This vital service is set to make a profound impact on the community, offering a second chance to those who need it most.

Today, the building comprises four residential floors providing 140 beds, two floors of program-specific offices and classrooms, dining facilities, and other community spaces. One of the unique features of the center is the on-site commercial kitchen, which will serve as the base of operations for Osborne’s own culinary arts program. This innovative initiative not only provides job training and employment opportunities for formerly incarcerated citizens but also contributes to the local economy.

The transformation of a former prison into a transitional home has not been easy, but it has been worthwhile. Denham Wolf is tremendously proud of our services and our part in turning this former prison into a transitional home. We led the assembly of the project team, oversaw design and construction, and supported the complex administration of funding and financing.

We want to extend a heartfelt congratulations to Osborne’s staff and board of directors, both current and previous, whose vision, dedication and leadership made this project a reality. The project was supported by numerous public and private donors whose support made the project financially feasible.

Check out the photos of the space and reach out if you want to learn more.
